Hi gorgeous!

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you’ve been having a wonderful week.

I thought I’d do another vlog.  This one was only meant to be a quick little video, but I have a tendency to ramble. 🙂

Anyway, I wanted to talk about the fact that I’ve felt a little overwhelmed this week.  My to-do list seems to be growing and I felt a little snowed under.

I just wanted to add (because I clearly didn’t talk enough!), that it is OK to say no.  You don’t have to attend every social gathering.  You don’t have to undertake every new project at work.  You have every right to say no.  In fact, you’re probably doing yourself a huge favour by saying no every now and then.  Because by saying no to someone else, you’re actually saying yes to yourself.

The other thing is that it’s OK to ask for help.  This is something I hugely struggle with, as I seem to have this martyr mentality whereby I think I need to do it all and be seen to be doing it all.  But you don’t have to do everything alone.  Outsource.  Ask your partner or a friend for a little extra help.  Even the smallest task someone else can do for you, can make a huge impact to your week.  Asking for help doesn’t make you a failure.

And above all else – when that overwhelming feeling comes up… BREATHE. Take some deep, mindful breaths and even meditate.  Taking that step away from your to-do list can make it seem far less important and far more achievable.

How do you manage your to-do list?  How do you manage that overwhelmed feeling?   I’d love to hear your tips and tricks! xx

  1. Thanks Amelia – I so needed to hear that this week! I was already super busy with work and renovating our house, and now I’m adding wedding planning to the mix! At least that’s a fun task, though I can already see that it’s going to be incredibly time consuming. Thank God for pinterest! xx

  2. P.S. Tried to subscribe to your newsletter, but when I hit ‘Subscribe’ (after entering my email address), nothing happens 🙁

  3. P.P.S. Me again (sorry)! Ignore the above – looks like it did work, just got a confirmation email in my Inbox. Not sure what plugin you’re using, but might be worth setting it up so that when you click ‘Submit’, it says ‘Thanks for subscribing’ or something similar. At the moment, nothing happens, so it looks like it’s not working. Can’t wait to receive your first newsletter – I just love your beautiful and inspiring site 🙂

  4. Spirit Junkie,, ha yes! I have tried to get to the end for so long now and it still hasn’t happened. Maybe I need to pencil it in with the other bazillion things there are to do lately!.
I’m with you there on roughly setting out what needs to be done. I actually did this a while ago when I was feeling totally overwhelmed and it made me realise there were more little pockets of time I could spend being productive than I thought. Top tips babe xx

  6. I can relate very much so. I love the vlogs, it’s nice to listen to something instead of reading all the time, I get distracted when reading so it’s helpful to listen instead.

  7. Your vlogs are great! Keep doing them!
Time management is so tricky – I definitely think as women we can all relate to this.. and definitely being kind and gentle with yourself is the way to go! Accomplishing something is fab, but as long as its not causing undue or unrealistic stress thats ok.
I have realised over the years that I cannot be what you said, everything to everyone, and when you do accept that, a weight is definitely lifted!
Loving your blog…. it is inspiring! Truly gorgeous! xx
